Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Do you enjoy working with a
team? With your hands? If so, this is a great opportunity to get
your foot in the door of a booming industry with one of the
nation’s best! Our goal is to employ people who don’t shy away from
hard work and who are dedicated to what they do. There’s no better
time than now to join Carter Lumber. Our Story Carter Lumber was
founded in 1932 by W.E. Carter. For 90 years, we have strengthened
our company by staying true to our values, which include honesty,
hard work, and putting people first. What started as a single
lumberyard in Akron, Ohio, is represented today by seven brands
servicing professional builders and homeowners across thirteen
states with more than 160 locations. Despite our growth, we are
still a family-owned company. Our core values and our people-first
culture remain the same. Description Trusses are the structural
components that support roofs and floors in residential home
buildings. They are created by connecting lumber with metal plates,
and in this position, you would be responsible for building these
components. To begin each day, you will complete a start-up
checklist to make sure all the equipment in your area is ready for
building. A computer at your workstation will provide you with all
the information you need to build the truss. Based on the design,
you and your team will set up a framework on the building table,
within which the truss will take shape. Then, you will place each
piece of lumber in the appropriate position and join them with
metal plates. Once all plates have been put in place, you will use
a large roller to flatten the plates and merge them with the
lumber. After a quality check to ensure there are no mistakes,
you’ll move on to your next truss. Requirements Experience in
manufacturing is preferred Experience in the use of a variety of
tools Ability to do repetitious work at a fast pace while standing
for long periods of time Ability to work in a team environment
