Principal Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Valid Michigan
Teaching Certification with Endorsement for desired grade level (ZL
or ZD endorsement) and/or content area (DI) Previous experience
teaching elementary school students. Strong understanding of child
development, pedagogy, and effective instructional strategies.
Passion for integrating arts into the curriculum and promoting
creativity in the classroom. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills, including
Microsoft Office and the Google Suite; Commitment to creating an
inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Ability to adapt to a dynamic educational environment and
contribute to a positive school culture. Position Description:
Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences is seeking a passionate and
dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a
positive and inclusive learning environment, as well as a genuine
passion for nurturing the academic and personal development of
elementary school students. As a Middle School Science Teacher, you
will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of
our students, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and a love
for learning. Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 50
pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as
frequently as needed to move objects; Frequent standing, stooping,
bending, pushing and pulling. Terms of Employment: Salary &
benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved
compensation plan. The salary range for certified teachers starts
at $51,300. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall
be those established by the District. Evaluation: Performance of
this job will be evaluated by the School Principal in accordance
with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging and
developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the school's
curriculum, Common Core, and state standards. Create a positive and
inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning,
respectful behavior, and a sense of community among students.
Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and
abilities, ensuring each student's unique needs are met. Regularly
assess student progress through a variety of formative and
summative assessments. Provide constructive feedback to students
and communicate progress to parents/guardians. Work collaboratively
with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance
the overall educational experience and contribute to the school's
positive and collaborative culture. Establish and maintain open
communication with parents/guardians through regular updates,
conferences, and involvement in school events. Stay informed about
current educational trends, participate in professional development
opportunities, and continuously seek ways to enhance teaching
skills and knowledge. Actively participate in the Teaching and
Learning Cycle which requires analyzing data, completing action
plans, delivering re-teach lessons and reflecting on the
instructional learning cycle; Participate in the development of and
adhere to all specialized student plans i.e. Individual Educational
Plans (IEPs), 504, Behavior Plans, etc. Contribute to a
professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork,
and accountability; Adhere to the District’s and School’s policies,
expectations, and protocols as outlined in the District’s Policies
and Procedures Manual and School’s Procedures Manual. Skills,
