Job DescriptionIn this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, validation and release of Automotive Consumer Ports Systems into General Motors vehicles across the globe.Key ResponsibilitiesPackaging and releasing of Automotive Consumer Ports Systems components into GM global vehicles.Chair cross-functional Product Development Teams (PDT).Create and approve Component Technical Specifications (CTS) & Statement of Requirements (SOR) and support sourcing activities and technical reviewsExercises technical direction over supplier/supplier engineers and engineering support personnelLead and direct supplier resident engineers in release activities.Will work with the BFO (Bill of materials Family Owner) to fine tune and implement system requirements, participate in the selection of the right suppliers, and optimize integration into vehicles.Lead overall communication, coordination and consultation with engineering departments and customers.Participate in compartment integration team discussions and finding balanced design solutions that meet Automotive Consumer Ports Systems performance requirements.Defend Automotive Consumer Ports Systems Performance Requirements and Automotive Consumer Ports Systems Strategy at Program Specific meetings such as CIT's, POPS, VAPIRDevelop software and hardware development plans.Ensure all Automotive Consumer Ports Systems imperatives are met.Coordinate and Implement engineering changes.Create and balance requirements across systems.Release parts and subsystems for production.Lead and execute DFSS studies and implement results.Address and resolve all safety and compliance issues based on CAE analysis and physical evaluation.Represent GM in vendor and/or customer contacts.Release final designs for manufacturing or purchase as appropriate.Manage multiple vehicle programs/suppliers simultaneously.Organize peer reviews and participate in other peer reviews.Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products.Travel as requiredAdditional Job DescriptionCandidate should have one of the following engineering degrees:BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Materials EngineeringRequired Skills:3-5 years experience in job-related areaExperience with automotive electrical systems and functional sub-systems.Strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required.Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners and meet mutual goals.Specific knowledge of engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, control systems) within job-related area.High-level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.About GMOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.Why Join UsWe aspire to be the most inclusive company in the world.
