looking for an enthusiastic person to lead Aerodynamics and Thermal
CAE development, ranging from the validation of components,
subsystems to full vehicles. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do

development.RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:Working with VIA and its
external engineering partners;
- Develop vehicle Aerodynamics and Thermal 1D/3D models based on
the needs from the design team and development team
- Participate in vehicle Aerodynamics and Thermal tests and
correlate models and results
- Manage Aerodynamics and Thermal CAE budget
- Develop vehicle 1D models to size components and validate
performance characteristics, develop airflow and cooling
requirements for components and systems
- Lead problem solving in Aerodynamics, Thermal and HVAC area
with virtual tools
- Manage relationships with external ESPs and test labs
- Contribute to the engineering discussions to improve vehicle
system performance
- Uses CAE to lead the vehicle design while balancing all
applicable performance requirements for a specific area of
responsibility
- Performs Computer-Aided Engineering simulations to evaluate
component, subsystem and full vehicle aerodynamics and thermal
performance using industry standard software and can handle all
load cases, including the most complex.
- Generates sound and timely technical solutions to meet vehicle
Aerodynamics and Thermal performance targets outlined in the
Vehicle Technical Specifications and balances safety requirements
based on the results of crash simulations for the major safety load
cases.
- Generates feasible vehicle design recommendations and works
with engineering functions, program teams, suppliers,
manufacturing, and others to implement design changes as required
to achieve vehicle performance.
- Conducts optimization studies by utilizing optimization CAE
tools, including DOE/ DFSS techniques to optimize vehicle designs
to meet performance requirements while minimizing mass and
cost.
- Uses advanced CAE tools and methods to improve multi-physics
behavior of systems
- Attends post-test teardowns as the Vehicle Proving Grounds to
interpret measurements, conduct analysis, and correlate CAE to test
results.
- Works with people around the world in a global and
collaborative environment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS preferred
- Direct experience in vehicle development tests, especially
vehicle crash tests
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and consumer information
tests for crash safety
- 8+ years experience in Aerodynamics CFD and Thermal CAE
- Star CCM+, Fluent, Ansa, AmeSim, Matlab/Simulink and Hyperworks
required
- "Hands-on" experience and attitude
- A drive to get things done despite challenges and
obstacles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have good communication skills
- 2-year testing exposure/ experience preferredBENEFITS
