looking for a highly experienced automotive Senior Engineer,
Vehicle Integration Design to join our Vehicle Architecture &
Program Management Team. This is your opportunity to join our

hybrid-electric vehicle technology development.RESPONSIBILITIES /
DUTIES:
- The successful candidate will perform CATIA V6 design engineer
work to support vehicle integration packaging activities focused on
powertrain, electrical, wiring, thermal system, coolant hose
routing, cargo components, and cabin components for an all-new
Architecture / Vehicle Program through all phases of the Vehicle
Development Process (Pre-Phase 0; Supplier Identification;
Sourcing; Product Definition; Product Design/Release; APQP
Approval; Part Production; Vehicle Volume Launch).
- The candidate will develop design countermeasures and assist in
leading team meetings and work collaboratively to identify
packaging issues, work with vehicle integration engineers and
design release engineers and from multiple disciplines to translate
concept ideas into CAD models, perform dynamic and static
interference/clearance checks, document actions, assess function/
cost/ weight/ customer impact, review options to find the best
balanced solution, and review recommendations with the VIA
leadership team within an appropriate timeline to meet vehicle
development milestones.
- The candidate will be involved at all steps of the System
design V-cycle (Vehicle Development Process) for requirements
elicitation, analysis and decomposition following a top-down system
design approach.
- Coordination with internal development teams, external
suppliers, and technical partners to ensure elements integrate
properly with the full vehicle system.
- Actively and diligently document work activities within VIA's
systems management system; bringing their experience forward to
improve the VIA systems methodology. Document team meeting
activities to clearly identify task details, task leader, expected
timing, and issue description.
- All work is peer-reviewed within the team. The successful
candidate will be expected to review the work of others.
- Actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Collect & review competitive benchmark information and apply
learnings as appropriate to new designs.REQUIRED EDUCATION /
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related engineering
discipline (System, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Mechatronics,
etc).
- At least 7 years (10 years preferred) of directly related
experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Highly proficient with CATIA (preferably V6) system to create
detailed CAD models, store models in collaborative space, cut cross
sections, manipulate position of models, measure clearances,
etc
- Experience with 3D Experience PLM system is an asset.
- Electric (EV) and Hybrid-Electric vehicle (HEV, PHEV) systems
development experience is an asset.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong ability to work in a leveraged, multi-company Vehicle
Development Process.
- Excellent problem solving, leadership, and interpersonal
skills.
- Team player who is easy to work with while getting the most out
of people.
- Comfortable with dynamic, quick paced work environment.
- Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to identify roadblocks and
develop work arounds and solutions to keep team moving
forward.
- Excellent written and oral communicator
- Combination of big picture understanding and vision with
outstanding attention to detail.
- Problem solver with strong analytical skills - comfortable with
both theoretical and practical issues
- Able to work independently and within a team
- Strong ability to organize and document work
- Able to prioritize tasks effectively and to communicate
roadblocks promptly to management within a fast-paced environment
where project / team priorities may shift.
- A curious person who stays abreast of the latest techniques and
technologies
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential
information.
- This role is expected to be located in SE Michigan; with the
expectation of ability and willingness to travel within US and
Internationally as required to interact with partners and
suppliers.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility.
Required to be able to read documents and computer screens.
- Ability to work in supplier facility (tooling and product
lines) and vehicle assembly plant.
- Comfortable around production lines, tooling and
