Job Description:
The Building Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for
oversight of mechanical system installation activities on building
construction projects. This includes review of design documents,
submittals, RFI's, schedules, and work progress in the field while
assuring that project scope, cost, and schedule are being met. This
position will regularly interact with construction contractor
personnel while also reporting project status to Senior staff. The
Building Mechanical Engineer with assist with commissioning,
preventative maintenance, emergency response, repair, and technical
direction on mechanical equipment and installations. This position
will have familiarity with mechanical construction, testing and
commissioning for mechanical equipment such as chillers, air
handling units, boilers, and cooling towers. The Building
Mechanical Engineer will assist in creating and evaluating Value
Engineering ideas and review project change orders relating to
mechanical installation. The position requires working in a
collaborative environment with all project staff disciplines to
proactively identify issues, root cause problems, and drive
continuous improvement. This position will start with working on
the new EV Battery Plant in Kokomo, Indiana.Job
Responsibilities:Provide review of design documents during their
development and prior to biddingMonitor construction work in the
field by mechanical and utility contactorsProvide input and
analysis on Value Engineering ideas to reduce project scope and
costProvide technical support to project staff to resolve field
issuesReview project submittals and coordinate response with A/E
firmsAssist in the resolution of questions from contractors, (i.e.,
interpreting the meaning and intent of drawings and specs,) and
submitting/tracking RFIs.Work with the project team to develop,
provide oversight, and ensure adherence to the project
scheduleCoordinate with other disciplines the project installation,
delivery, and scheduleConduct utility package construction
coordination meetingsAssist in developing utility pricing scopes
and pricing breakdowns for all utility bid packagesCoordinate
contractor's utility interferences prior to installation of utility
systemsAttend construction meeting and perform constructability
reviewsMonitor the quality of work, so that it is in accordance
with the design drawings and specificationsProvide oversight of
equipment start-up, commissioning, and acceptance testsEvaluate
completion of the contractors work and assist in punch-list
creation and close-outProvide review of final close-out
documentationDocument problems found and provide lessons learned
for continuous improvementReview monthly
