We are looking for a Creative Director to join our Detroit studio, either in-person or remotely. The Creative Director is a seasoned and passionate designer with proven experience in delivering top-notch quality user interfaces, building and leading a strong creative team as well as being a consultant to project teams and key accounts. The Creative Director is experienced in the automotive industry and enjoys continuously pushing the boundaries of digital interface design, brand and UX - from GUI all the way through purposeful motion design and prototyping. Searching for what's beyond the latest trends and keeping an eye on what's happening in the design universe is a natural habit. They have a holistic and systemic, yet humanistic, view.
Along with design skills, there comes great joy from working with a team and enhancing everybody's mindset and skills. The Creative Director specifically mentors the team-leading staff and making sure they don't get stuck in a daily routine, always pushing to bend the scope and frame towards innovation and client satisfaction. The Creative Director sets the example in holding an open-mind, constant learning, and productively engaging others throughout the design process. This role enjoys presenting to clients, discussing the client's input, and working on solutions to achieve optimally tailored results. The Creative Director has a profound understanding of the needs and constraints of all audiences in the design process, and is capable in navigating collaboration and communication in complex corporate environments. The goal and focus is not only to deliver user experiences of highest visual and technical quality, but also to always think and act one step ahead, bringing the team along with. The Creative Director knows that to stay successful, boundaries have to be pushed and expectations have to be constantly exceeded. This role continuously mentors and cheers on their team to think beyond, to go an extra mile, and to have a future-oriented, and adaptive mindset.

  • Create outstanding user experiences in a team lead, mentoring and/or oversight role
  • Being accountable for and supervising multiple projects and teams
  • Quality assurance and communication (external and internal)
  • Push the boundaries of UI design and unite all design disciplines (UX, UI, motion and 3D) to one coherent, convincing output with a focus on UI design (visual brand DNA)
  • Continuously integrate prototyping into the UI design work streams
  • Be a mentor to the team and represent innovation and quality
  • Develop a strong relationship with our client(s), consult and guide them
  • Define and foster a team culture
  • Introduce methodologies and ideation strategies especially in early project phases
  • Continuously improve quality and efficiency on project, client and department level to achieve operational excellence
  • Support the team in successfully converting design proposals into real time computing environments
  • Lead client facing workshops, meetings and presentations
  • Synchronize, align with and support other icon incar entities/divisions and iconmobile group
  • Present company capabilities to new clients and generate new business with existing clients your role In alignment with the business plan / account management, the Creative Director will define the objectives for the projects they are accountable for together with the Managing Director and Account Management.     • Identify potential trends, developments and innovations; transfer/implement into projects and teams
    • Actively foster a flexible and visionary mindset within your team
    • Make our mission statement tangible in daily business for your department and keep it alive
    • Define thought leadership topics that add to the company's portfolio and delegate in your direct reports' IPS (coordinate with Specialists, Principals, peers)
    • Maintain constant alignment with the Managing Director Business Development & Financial Management
      • Budget accountability with a high margin awareness
      • Oversee large scale client projects with accountability for account growth, client satisfaction, and retention
      • Making sure excellent results are delivered on time and within budget
      • Present company capabilities and generate new business with existing clients
      • Accountable for divisional growth and profitable operation of the whole design operation Client Services / Relationship Development
        • Define solutions that will generate measurable results for the client
        • Foster client confidence and become valued resource and sounding board for clients
        • Guide/approve creative and delivery process at key checkpoints
        • Support the planning of all engagements (goals, deliverables, schedules, budgets) with support from delivery team, and prioritize projects and resources
        • Help team evaluate and give constructive feedback to ensure creative ideas meet brief objectives and represent icon incar's high standards People Management

            • Minimum of 10 years design / automotive industry / digital product experience
            • Someone who's a doer, who still has a deep understanding of the required software tools and isn't afraid of still using them from time to time to provide hands-on guidance
            • Fluency in User Experience Design, Graphic User Interfaces and their various principles and methodologies
            • Mobile design experience and knowledge of the digital product development
            • Experience with automotive industry's design and product development processes
            • Ability to provide effective creative and project briefs and get the best inputs from clients
            • Experience engaging with clients, escalation issues, and being accountable with sensitive and confidential topics
            • Experience with launching products at scale (software, mobile, in-car, etc.)
            • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; exceptional presentation skills
            • Proven leadership personality - great hands-on management skills and a natural interest in developing people
            • Experience with large scale design systems
            • A strong strategic and analytical thinker with legitimate problem-solving skills
            • Able to skillfully maneuver unknowns
            • Superior organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
            • Solid understanding and experience in project and account management from a creative standpoint
            • Great organizational, time management and prioritization skills
