Job DescriptionPosition Overview P.J. Wallbank Springs, Inc. is
looking to add a highly qualified individual to our team who will
play a critical role in the company's growth in the years ahead.
The leader of Advanced Engineering will be responsible for current
and future process equipment development. They must have experience
with developing others, strong understanding and implementation of
systems (Lean) that support achievement of world class performance,
and a history of impressive accomplishments, largely through the
members of their team. This individual must be a very strong leader
and coach, who is effective at developing others and completing
those items most impactful to continually moving the organization
forward. This role is about leading engineering. Managing today's
environment is critical to our organization and this role's
success. However, this role is also very much about defining the
future of the organization, by leading the people and defining
systems to achieve exceptional results in the products and
processes of tomorrow. We have to re-invent ourselves, and the
Engineering role will have tremendous responsibility with this
objective. Our organization's roots are in Engineering and we
intend to keep it that way. We were founded by creating an
innovative, yet simple manufacturing process that achieved results
in cost and quality that others could not. We then worked to
understand product design and integrated strong product development
processes, which allowed for product and process development to be
closely aligned from development through launch. Going forward, we
will continue to focus on developing simple, yet differentiated
manufacturing processes and strong product development systems that
continue to enable competitive advantage and create the best value
for our customers. Company Description For more than 35 years, our
organization has been a specialist in our products. In fact, we are
the only company in the world who specializes in clutch return
spring packs. This laser sharp focus, combined with the effort of
great people, has enabled us to be the global leader in our market.
We currently employ more than 140 employees, with annual revenues
of approximately $35M. Our organization collaborates with our
customers all around the world in product development, and then
manufacture these products on proprietary manufacturing equipment
and processes we design and build internally. While millions of
these products are shipped within the United States, more than 50%
are exported, the majority of which go to China. Over the last 3
years, we have experienced significant, triple digit growth. While
our company's growth is exciting and will present some great
opportunities and challenges, this is not what makes us special. In
fact, many mediocre companies are capable of growing to a larger

dramatic impact on the world through people. Main Areas of
Responsibility o Works independently with their team and
collaboratively with leadership team to set process development
strategy and is then responsible for execution o Responsible for
leading, managing, and building (through recruiting,
mentoring/coaching) a world class, high performance Engineering
team o Overall responsibility for engineering, including process
equipment development, tooling, and launch. o Continuous
Improvement and root cause analysis, leading problem solving
efforts o Responsible for implementing and achieving KPI's
pertaining to manufacturing engineering performance o Responsible
for manufacturing engineering systems development and
implementation o Analyze capital expenditures and project designs
to help find ways to reduce costs o Monitor and optimize equipment
and facility capacity o Responsible for optimization of plant
layout for materials storage and flow. The Global Leader in Clutch
Return Spring Pack Design and Manufacturing Responsible for
manufacturing related responsibilities for new product launches;
working with Product and Advanced Engineering to ensure new designs
and processes are feasible. Proposed 1+ year objectives o Create
and implement lean process development standards and system, based
on Shingo Model Including build and maintenance standards for
existing equipment established and adhered to o Machine performance
improved to allow operator to achieve zero defects Elimination of
current offline inspection process, with 25% of existing customer
complaints Team members utilized in production or other roles
Production process costs reduced by 25% with minimal investment o
Key processes documented and implemented for world class operations
as we scale Ideal Experience o History of achieving impressive
results as leader and coach of others o Lean systems implementation
and execution experience o History of strong customer relationships
o Strong working knowledge of TPS and/or Shingo Model o Prior
experience as a successful change agent o Experience in high volume
production o Enjoys and is active on the manufacturing floor o
Possesses mechanical aptitude, and is a demonstrated problem solver
o Global automotive industry experience, including familiarity with
customer expectations, systems, and standards o P&L experience
o High growth experience in dynamic environment o Prior experience
with developing and implementing processes Compensation Competitive
