Director, North Market Supply Chain Management - Henry Ford HealthThe Director, North Market Supply Chain Management leader for Henry Ford Health administers, directs and oversees Supply Chain Management (SCM) activities for one or more Henry Ford Health's -(HFH) entities within a geographic area (W. Bloomfield & Macomb, MI). Henry Ford Health is driving cutting edge Supply Chain solutions and processes that this leader will be paramount in delivering. The Director reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain Management with an indirect (matrix) reporting relationship to one or more of the following Business Unit (BU) Leadership: Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and/or VP Primary Care & Medical Centers.You will develop Develops SCM financial plans and monitor -performance and trends to meet HFH -SCM strategic direction. Interfacing with HFH -SCM centralized service center functions of Strategic Sourcing, Procurement & Vendor Compliance, Logistics & Operations Management, and SCM Systems. This individual will lead the implementation of system wide agreements working with Physicians, Clinicians, and BU Leadership within the defined North Market -geography conducting BU contract financial assessments and validating -savings. The Director will be responsible for distribution and replenishment processes throughout the defined North Market geographic region including all clinical and non-clinical areas. Some of those activities include: planning, analyzing and implementing programs for distribution of supplies and equipment including but not limited to: inventory management analysis, product cost analysis and procurement analysis.You will also manage local SCM information systems content and collaborate -with SCM Systems colleagues throughout HFH and will work -within the SCM team to develop policies and procedures that can be implemented system wide focusing on standardization and process improvements. This Director also maintains a quality assurance program to ensure both compliance with internal standards and those of regulatory agencies.Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehends, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, values and vision of HFH -in leadership behaviors, practices and procedures.
  • Plans and administers activities of the SCM staff engaged in such activities as acquiring needed supplies, services, and equipment, exploring new sources, products, materials and ideas -to ensure delivery of services and attainment of departmental and business regional goals.
  • Develops and implements strategies to reduce the cost of supplies, equipment and services by working collaboratively with all levels of the organization, with external vendors and consistent with HFH -SCM initiatives.
  • Works as a liaison to all departments, committee members and vendors on an on-going basis to determine purchasing requirements, problems and needs. Participates on various committees and attends meetings in order to exchange information within the SCM team. Participates as Value Analysis Team member with an interest and focus on implementation, standardization, quality assurance and safety within HFH -entities.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce supply expense through analysis, collaboration with SCM Leadership colleagues to achieve operational and economic efficiencies.
  • In collaboration with business units and clinic leadership, develops departmental programs and operational objectives.
  • Identifies targeted areas for improvement based on fact gathering and business case justification.
  • Manages, motivates and supervises subordinates, resolving conflicts and responding to concerns.
  • Understands inventory philosophies and attributes, cost tradeoff (Ex: PAR management, ABC analysis, safety stock, lead-time) and methods (Ex. Min/Max, Kanban) in order to analyze and minimize inventory investment while maximizing service. Accepts Lean principles as a guiding force for process improvement. Demonstrates and mentors others in Lean principles.
  • Communicates effectively with senior management staff, making recommendations as appropriate. Works with hospital departments on sensitive SCM issues relative to supplies and equipment.
  • Analyzes current operations, costs structures including labor costs and makes recommendations for improvements, collaborating with market leaders -to identify problems and solutions, creating ownership in decision making. Presents monthly management reports and metrics to update HFH -leadership, SCM and accountable business units on the activities, goals, objectives and status of his/her areas of responsibility. Monitors budgets level of his/her areas of responsibility on a monthly basis and analyzes trends, changes and exceptions to overall procurement obligations.
  • Works closely with Information Technology to establish and implement information sharing and gathering capabilities.
  • Works in collaboration with business units, market leaders as well as HFH -SCM verticals to research the purchasing, contracting and negotiating for all consumable supplies, equipment and furnishing, maintenance agreements, renovation contracts and services to ensure compliance with established HFH -policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of cost control initiatives.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Integrity/Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, as well as other HFH -policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • BA or BS degree in a related field is required.
    • Minimum of (5) five years' experience in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Materials Management, Engineering or Finance is required.
    • Minimum of (3) three to (5) five years -prior supervisory and budget management experience and background using materials management information systems preferred.
    • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required to collaborate and work with North Market and HFH Leadership. -Must possess outstanding cross-functional leadership skills and management skills, with an emphasis on people development.
    • Must possess ability to be a self-starter and independent worker, able to juggle priorities and manage dashboard of -work.
