WATER PRACTICE -Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning, and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.DESCRIPTIONThe -Water/Wastewater -Engineer -will be joining Michael Baker International's Water group in -Detroit, MI -and -will Make a Difference by supporting our many public and private sector clients. You will be involved with a variety of water-related projects supporting Michael Baker's water group throughout the company, such as water and sewer master plans; -water and sewer feasibility studies, condition assessments, -pipelines, pump stations, -lift stations, and -reservoirs.

  • You will work as part of a project team and be responsible for overseeing and planning, design development, calculations, presentations, and overall project development for a variety of projects.
  • Oversee the development of design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines and pumping stations.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems.
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, submittals, and miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Assist technical marketing during the procurement of key projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (grading, electrical, controls, structural, geotechnical, pothole, etc.)
  • Review construction submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide general engineering support services during construction.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, assign tasks, and review work to support project development.
  • Lead the Water/Wastewater business development efforts in Michigan with the support of senior leadership.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on water resources and/or environmental engineering, or related engineering field and -10 + -years of experience.
    • Professional Engineer registration in Michigan. -
    • Have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
    • Experience with Hydraulic Modeling of water distribution and sewer collection systems
    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
    • Experience with GIS, and other engineering software is a plus.
    • Successful junior staff management and development.
    • Experience developing technical specifications and vendor coordination.COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $120,818 - $199,343. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.BENEFITSWe offer a comprehensive benefits package including: -
