Reportingto the site Chief Nursing Officer, and through subordinate leadershippersonnel, directs practice, quality, personnel, operations and financialactivities of inpatient nursing services. Responsible for nursing staffing, resource recruitment and staffdevelopment. Promotes advanced nursingpractice and career development opportunities for staff through leadership,educational opportunities and advancement incentives. Ensures the development and implementation ofgoals, objectives, policies and nursing standards in accordance with DMC standardsof care, government and licensing requirements. Ensures that nursing practice meets the acceptable industrystandards. Works closely with medicalstaff leadership to promote collaborative practice models between physiciansand physician extenders and nursing staff. Enhances processes and care delivery that maximizes patient and customersatisfaction with nursing services. Develops operating budget and regularly reviews and reports on financialperformance of nursing and related services. Collaborates with service line directors to manage the delivery ofmultidisciplinary patient services within established budgetary, quality,customer service and regulatory guidelines. Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer on issues related to nursingand patient education, standards of care, training of nursing personnel andpolicies and procedures related to the provision of patient care. May participate as a member of seniormanagement team in the development of strategic plans for the operatingunit. Participates as a member ofcertain administrative and quality committees and provides staff support toBoard committees, as appropriate. Identifies opportunities for organizational effectiveness that enhanceoverall performance, productivity, quality and expeditious issueresolution. Participates in and supportssystem-wide initiatives and improvement efforts. Monitors activities forand ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirementsand DMC/Tenet policies. As directed,implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieveobjectives for diversity of their suppliers.
