Where You Come In
As the Controller, you have an opportunity to not only help build
the Financial Planning & Analysis Team, but also make a significant
impact on Company’s trajectory. In this role, you will work
cross-functionally to ensure Company is pulling the right levers to
build a highly profitable business. No other company is better
positioned than Company to build the future of furniture, and we’ll
need to ensure we have the sharpest minds on board to build a
highly efficient business.
What You'll Do Assist in building and developing the FP&A team.
Provide monthly financial reporting and forecasting for internal
and external parties. Provide budgets and financial models.
Continue development of accurate financial reporting & effective
controls. Continue development of admin operations as company
scales i.e. payroll, healthcare, 401k. Implement processes,
frameworks and systems that allow us to capture and utilize timely
and accurate data across the business to make better decisions as
we scale. Drive financial education, accountability & operational
excellence throughout the organization. Build strong partnerships
across the organization, as a trusted advisor & team leader. Work
with the technology team to develop Company’s business ops
technology strategy. This entails seeking out and identifying the
best solutions, conducting project cost analysis, providing
insightful analysis/recommendations, and driving forward
implementation and maintenance of complex models/software. Assist
in the development of company vision & strategy, identifying
business opportunities & watch outs, & suggesting the optimal path
to execute against & achieve company goals. Advise CEO and COO on
financial communication strategy for key stakeholders. Work as a
close collaborator with COO on external partner relationships &
outreach. Take any new Company initiative, evaluate it & if worth
pursuing, make it happen. This is a leadership role where you will
be a close thought partner to the founders. Role reports to COO.
This Might Describe You Strong background in managerial accounting,
whether within a startup, large corporation, or in a consulting
role capacity 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance
experience Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
(CPA or CMA preferred, but not required) Experience working in the
consumer goods space Experience with general ledger functions and
the month-end/year end close process Experience with preparing
financial statements, profit and loss analysis, budget vs actual
variance analysis Experience in cash flow management and
forecasting Experience in cost accounting and inventory management
(preferred, but not required) Thorough knowledge of accounting
principles and procedures including GAAP Advanced Excel skills,
experience with quickbooks and inventory management systems is a
plus Eagerness to learn is key
