Michigan University College of Medicine is seeking a highly
qualified, senior faculty member for an advanced academic rank
position with an administrative appointment as the Scientific
Director and Endowed Chair of Research for the Department of
Pediatrics and for the CMU /University Pediatricians (UPeds)
Clinical Research Institute. The ideal candidate will advance the
research mission of the College and will assist in expanding the
current clinical and translational research located in Children's
Hospital of Michigan. This position will be located in the Detroit
Metro area. Ideal candidates will have a history of serving as
Principal Investigator on federal and non-federal
grants/awards/contracts, and a well-developed research program that
fosters collaborations between basic, translational, and clinical
science faculty. While all areas of research will be considered,
collaborative opportunities exist in neuroscience, mitochondrial
biology, cancer biology, diabetes, and health services and outcomes
research. The Scientific Director will be the incumbent of the
Carman and Ann Adams Endowed Chair in Pediatric Research funded by
The Children's Foundation. The primary purpose of the endowment is
to support pediatric research at Children's Hospital of Michigan
and Central Michigan University through the research and
educational activities of the CMU /UPeds Clinical Research
Institute. As the Scientific Director, the candidate will serve as
mentor to junior faculty, fellows, and residents and provide
guidance and expertise in writing grants and manuscripts for
publication. The Scientific Director will work closely with the
Children's Foundation to promote, fund raise, and champion the CMU
/UPeds Clinical Research Institute. He/she will work closely with
the Executive Director of the Clinical Research Institute to help
ensure that the needs of the research community are met and that
the services are of high standard. Preference will be given to
candidates with a track record of independent extramural funding
and administrative experience. CMU College of Medicine encourages

Doctoral degree, PhD or MD/DO or other terminal degree in a
medically relevant discipline. MD/PhD preferred.

research related programs.
--- Experience with independent design and conduct of research
consistent with discipline(s).
--- History of external funding and publishing original research in
peer-reviewed journals.
--- Strong collaborative and communication skills.
--- Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
--- Candidate must meet criteria for advance rank (Associate or
Professor) at CMU College of Medicine
--- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or
