The gastroenterology physician is expected to perform G.I.
endoscopic procedures on inpatients and outpatients, provide
inpatient G.I. consultation services, to see patients in the
gastroenterology clinic for consultation and follow up, to
supervise the physician assistant and work collaboratively with the
nurse practitioners, and to participate in the teaching and
training of the gastroenterology fellows. A faculty appointment at
Wayne State University School of Medicine is available for
qualified candidates
Preferred Experience: Board Certified/board Eligible in
gastroenterology.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm; weekend and holiday
coverage will be shared equally among the members of the
Section
Basic Requirements:
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II,
Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in
the local Human Resources Office.
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs); As
needed - Straight pulling, pulling hand over hand, pushing and
reaching above shoulders, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling,
repeated bending, climbing using both legs and arms; use of fingers
and both hands required; ability for rapid mental and muscular
coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13'-16" to
Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to
20/40 in the other; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic
colors; hearing (aid permitted); working closely with others;
working alone; protracted or irregular hours of work. VA offers a

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of
eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period.
