Job Description NSO is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to work in our integrated healthcare clinics.The Medical Assistant (MA) is part of the 360 Neighborhood Wellness Centers' Integrated Care Team. 360 Neighborhood Wellness Center is Neighborhood Service Organization's integrated primary care and behavioral health home. The MA is responsible for maintaining patient flow, performing intake, collecting vital signs, medications, and relevant health information, performing point of care labs and tests, vaccine administration, phlebotomy, referral processing, and administrative duties under direct supervision of licensed medical staff member and providers. Essential Job Duties · Assist with clinic flow· Perform intake and obtain vital signs · Interview patients and document basic medical, family, and social history · Perform medication reconciliation · Organize and schedule appointments · Update and file medical records, clinical documentation, and insurance reports · Prepare and clean exam rooms · Assist in coordination of Telehealth services · Process referrals and imaging orders · Maintain complete and accurate patient records · Assist with immunization inventory, ordering, and reporting · Assist in ordering and organizing supplies and maintaining inventory log · Receives and treats all patients with the utmost respect and professionalism; · Performs a wide variety of clerical duties and cross train for front office duties including preparing routine correspondence, filing, photocopying, faxing, and answering the telephone and directing calls as needed; · Attends and actively participates in all team and staff meetings and related continuing education programs; · Participate in ongoing trainings as required by supervisor; · Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor Clinical Skills· Demonstrates good clinical skills routine to a medical assistant including, but not limited to: o Medical examinations o Perform phlebotomy and laboratory services o Administer immunizations · Performs clinic procedures as directed by providers · Perform clinical tests including, but not limited to urine dips, urine pregnancy tests, fingerstick glucose, visual tests, auditory screens, peak flows, and EKGs and others as directed. Clinic Administrative Duties · Scheduling/rescheduling patients · Insurance verification · Answering phones · Manage Athena Net (Electronic Medical Record) and other databases as needed · Communicate with patients and direct patient-related messages appropriately · Prepare and process patient paperwork Professional Skills · Comply with and adhere to department and NSO policies and procedures. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Professional, courteous and prompt customer service, both in-person and over the phone · Maintains technological skills necessary to perform data entry, manage team calendars/schedules, and create company reports and other documents as required · Wiliness/ability to learn new software programs as needed. · Multi-tasking and creative thinking/problem solving skills · Keeps a safe and clean work area by complying with all NSO procedures, rules, and regulations. · Supports continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs · Adhere to established quality and performance improvement standards. · Work effectively with others to accomplish goals/resolve problems. · Organize work well and uses time effectively, including time-management techniques. · Maintain consistent work attendance and reports to work on time and as scheduled. · Professionally represents NSO and promotes NSO mission and vision statements. · Models the Pillars and guiding principles of NSO at all times. · Promote a harmonious work environment. · Is open to new approaches and takes steps to increase knowledge, skills and abilities, both from within and outside NSO. · Other duties as assigned Working Conditions and Necessary Capabilities · Clinic Based Position uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed, to perform duties. · May have potential exposure to airborne infectious agents, blood and/or bodily fluids during medical emergencies due to contact with patients;PPE will be provided for protection. · Constant physical contact with patients. · Comply with contractual and regulatory requirements, as needed. · Foster commitment, team spirit, pride and trust. · Possess good work ethic, drive, energy, and persistence to achieve goals. · Take accountability for job responsibilities. · Able to anticipate and bring about change when needed. · Perform other duties as assigned. · The noise level in the work environment is variable, due to frequent contact with patients. · Bends, stoops and reaches in order to file, search for and retrieve documents, cleaning supplies or other items.

Manual dexterity and regular fine-finger and hand/wrist motions are required for performing clinical tasks, operating a keyboard, writing and filing. · Seeing/vision, talking/speaking and listening/hearing are continuously required.

Frequently required to sit, walk and stand · May have exposure to cleaning chemicals as needed · Frequently required to sit, walk or drive. · Occasionally required to travel between work locations in an urban environment.
