Job Description:
Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC's largest hospital, offering a
comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency
medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services.
Sinai-Grace's joint replacement program features a revolutionary
minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts
patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than
21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout
Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation
to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set
the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians
throughout the nation. Summary Description Responsible for managing
the work and overall day-to-day operations, policies, procedures
and outcomes within Occupational Health Services (OHS) for
Sinai/Grace Hospital. Under limited direction, and according to
established policies and procedures, manages the activities and
personnel in OHS for the site. Develops, organizes, implements and
continually improves clinical operations of OHS to ensure the
effective delivery of all clinical OHS services. Responsible for
initial case management activities at the site level for all
workers compensation cases to facilitate optimal recovery and early
return to work. In conjunction with the Human Resources corporate
liaison, manages the activities of third party administrators to
ensure optimal use of services. Performs duties related to trend
analysis, loss prevention and hazardous surveillance. Delegates
patient care assignments based on clinical competence of staff and
complexity of intervention required. Develops, recommends,
implements and administers policies and procedures; monitors,
evaluates and recommends modifications or changes to enhance
operational efficiencies. Ensures appropriate documentation,
including completion of regulatory forms and logs (i.e., OHSA log).
Collaborates with department managers and corporate Human
Resources' Disability Management to determine employees'
eligibility for continued employment or necessity of job
accommodation under ADA guidelines. Recommends, secures approval of
and ensures adherence to OHS productivity-based and operational
budgets, as well as worker's compensation operational budget.
Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, assigns work to, and when
necessary disciplines and/or recommends discharge of subordinates.
Provides administrative support by enforcing Hospital and
departmental policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with all
legal, regulatory and accrediting requirements. Participates in
system DMC-OHS committee meetings and projects. Prepares committee
reports, as appropriate, to support others (ICC, safety, incident
analysis, workplace violence, etc.) Monitors activities for and
ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint
Commission requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements
external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital
departments achieve objectives for diversity of their
suppliers.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or
equivalent combination of training and experience. 2. Three to five
years of progressively more responsible experience, including a
minimum of two years as a clinical supervisor or project leader. 3.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of
Michigan. 4. Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN) or
Case Management (COHN-S/CM), preferred. 5. Familiarity with basic
windows-based computer applications. Job: Managers and Directors
