Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager to be based out of Wayne, MI. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for leading the facility's Environmental, Health, and Safety improvement initiatives.

What you'll do:

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including MIOSHA, EGLE, EPA, GLWA, etc.
  • Ensure site-level conformance with Company-wide EHS initiatives and directives
  • Conduct EHS-related training to hourly and salaried personnel
  • Manage first aid, recordable, and lost-time injuries, including coordinating with Corporate resources to manage worker's compensation claims at the local level
  • Ensure state, local, and Company COVID-19 related protocols are implemented and followed, including management of related supplies
  • Support continuous improvement in lean daily management, including leading 5S implementation
  • Support safety and environmental management system implementation
  • Manage EHS-related vendors and contractors, and any associated projects What you'll bring:

    Qualifications include:
    • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field; or relevant working experience as an equivalency
    • 5+ years' relevant working experience
    • Safety professional certification preferred
    • Proven knowledge of safety and environmental management systems
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Demonstrate and foster an environment that upholds the Atkore Core Values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence Within 3 months, you'll:
      • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
      • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy
      • Gain an understanding of Wayne, MI regulatory requirements
      • Complete certification for Industrial Stormwater Operator Within 6 months, you'll:
        • Improve facility 5S Score to glide-path level
        • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's Core Values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence
        • Complete Wastewater state certification Within 12 months, you'll:
          • Take on a Level 1 A3 tied to the Lean Transformation Plan
          • Oversee vendor safety management initiatives
