a. The Pharmacy Service Chief will be a licensed pharmacist who is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the pharmacy services of a complex, highly affiliated, tertiary healthcare system located in Ann Arbor, Michigan with associated community based outpatient clinics (CBOC) located in Flint, Michigan, Jackson, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio. The Medical Center is a complexity level 1A with inpatient care consisting of acute medical, surgical, intensive care, telemetry and psychiatric units. Surgical services include general surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac and orthopedic surgery and a bariatric surgery program. Medical services include invasive cardiology and a TAVR program. There is a broad spectrum of outpatient specialty care available including oncology as well as primary care and mental health services. The position is located at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS), located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
b. The Pharmacy Service offers a full range of pharmaceutical and clinical services to include, but not limited to, unit dose dispensing, intravenous (IV) admixture program, hematology, oncology and pain services.
c. The Pharmacy Service also serves as an educational program site for pharmacy students from the local schools of pharmacy and has a pharmacy practice residency program accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
d. The Pharmacy Service Chief is responsible for the provision of professional and distributive pharmacy services to Veterans and for the professional and administrative activities supporting these services including procurement, drug safety and adverse drug event reporting.
e. The Pharmacy Service Chief works collaboratively with finance and other service chiefs on drug cost avoidance and the monitoring of the pharmacy budget with timely communication of unusual or increased expenditures.
f. The incumbent interacts professionally with other leaders of the VAAAHS, VISN and CMOP management on all pharmacy related fiscal and quality of care issues.
g. The incumbent will demonstrate the VA Core Values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect and Excellence (I CARE) and will develop positive relationships with all leaders and staff and will actively support the mission and vision of the VHA and the VAAAHS.
h. The Pharmacy Chief is responsible for compliance of Pharmacy Service with all safety, regulatory and accrediting body requirements.
Work Schedule: Days, Monday thru Friday, but may include weekends and holidays based on clinical need
