Essential Functions (Job Duties) Serve as the Director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program and will also hold a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) or Associate Professor (Clinical).
Teach in the Physician Assistant Studies Program.
Provide academic advisement to students
Supervise part-time and full-time represented faculty
Work closely with the department/division administration and other program directors in the Department of Health Care Sciences
Conduct research and pursue scholarly activities as administrative and teaching demands allow.
Represent the program at local and national professional meetings.
Serve on program/department/division/college/university committees as appropriate.
Unique Duties Manage the budget/expenses of the Physician Assistant Studies Program including the anticipation of funding needs, control of program expenditures and disbursement of all program funds. This will be done in consultation with the department chair.
Manage and lead the program staff and student body. Oversees the progress, academic discipline, grievance, and general welfare of program students.
Establish constructive professional relationships with profession-related agencies, other organizations, the community, and related constituencies.
Advise the chair in the promotion, professional development, and performance evaluation of faculty and staff.
Be responsible for all aspects of the program related to accreditation by the ARC-PA, including student and faculty recruitment; curriculum review, development and design; continuous program evaluation and periodic self-study.
