Reimbursement Opportunities for Advancement Position Overview: The
Director of Operations will oversee plant Production and Operations
to ensure that the plant meets production needs, regulatory
requirements, and profitability targets. Plan, budget, and develop
projects that increase productivity, reduce operational costs,
reduce waste, and improve product quality. Perform administrative
functions, such as budgeting, reviewing, or writing reports,
approving expenditures, enforcing rules, or purchasing materials or
services. Coordinate the activities of department managers to
ensure the accomplishment of production goals considering quality,
sales, and delivery. Key Responsibilities: Direct and monitor
operations managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan,
consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures
Establish and implement organizational and departmental policies,
goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with GM and
subordinates as appropriate Formulate and recommend manufacturing
policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining
and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the
operation Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve
productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework
data Review forecasts regularly with sales and engineering to make
production schedule modifications Review financial statements,
sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure
productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing
cost reduction and program improvements Direct and coordinate
various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g.,
training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement,
security, etc.) Responsible for driving team to maintain accuracy
of inventory Develop, or implement and maintain production tracking
and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality,
maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect and resolve
production problems Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to set
and monitor product standards for the examination of raw materials
and manufactured products to ensure finished products are of
prescribed quality Identify and provide justification for capital
projects Monitor projects and, with input from Engineering and
Manufacturing, make course corrections as appropriate Assist with
ensuring plant safety and adherence to OSHA and EPA regulations.
Enforce 6S and Lean Manufacturing standards Hire, train, develop
and evaluate immediate direct reports as well as indirect reports
Work with department heads to identify high-potential employees for
potential promotions or additional training Qualifications &
Requirements: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree; or
equivalent combination of education and experience Seven to ten
years’ manufacturing experience in increasingly responsible roles
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of the
casting industry Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, Oracle
reports and PEIs as well as complex documents and reports Excellent
team skills and able to interact with other employees, engineers,
and leadership Ability to drive safety improvements Ability to
report progress with engineers to solve issues Ability to deal with
problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations as well as problems involving abstract concepts
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong computer
skills such as Microsoft Office and Manufacturing Software Strong
team building skills, leadership capability, and managerial skills
Work Environment: Office environment & Shop Floor PPE Requirements:
Safety glasses and safety shoes/boots. Additional PPE may be
required in various areas throughout the plant Travel: 5-10%,
including customer and vendor visits NOTE: Consolidated Precision
