The GM Structures and Integrated Systems Team offers opportunities across a spectrum of engineering. These product engineering positions involve responsibility for all activities - including definition of requirements, execution of design, and validation and testing - during the development of the Body Structures, Sealers, Baffles, Adhesives, Fuel Fill/Charge Port Door, Structural Roof Trim, Battery Enclosures and Movable Roofs throughout a vehicle's lifecycle. These roles require an experienced engineer to lead and drive a multi-functional product development team. In addition, they require collaboration with peers in the creative design, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions.The ideal candidate is one who desires to build their technical depth as an engineer within the automotive Body enterprise. This candidate possesses outstanding communication, project management skills, and is a hardworking, person who enjoys seeking challenges and following through with robust solutions. The skills built with these roles will allow you to grow a strong interpersonal network. This is a foundational position which, done efficiently, will open up possibilities within the company.Our team is seeking individuals in the following areas: Advanced Vehicle Development, Program Lead, Inner Framing Release, Outer Framing Release, Roof and Cross Member ReleaseResponsibilities include:* Generate and execute technical solutions to support new vehicle programs* Provide technical leadership for sophisticated component or technology development* Perform design analysis and evaluating engineering designs* Work multi-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support prototype and production build activities* Balance business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing* Production engineering design release of Body Structures & Integrated Systems parts and subsystems* Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations* Stay abreast of relevant new technology and products* Develop and apply new and existing technology to Design, Manufacturing and Engineering* Develop and coordinate engineering designs and systems with manufacturing, analysis, other vehicle subsystems, vehicle development, safety, customers, and other functions* Responsible for integrity and compliance to GM technical and quality standards throughout the vehicle's life cycleAdditional Job DescriptionRequired Skills:* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering* 5+ years of engineering experience* Previous DRE ExperiencePreferred Skills:* Master's Degree or other Advanced Degree* Familiarity with the engineering design components specific to body structures.* Familiarity with Design For Six Sigma process* Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)* Knowledge of high strength alloy materials, processes, and toolingBenefits OverviewThe goal of the General Motors total rewards program is to support the health and well-being of you and your family.
