* Develop, lead, and implement a strategic business plan for new product development and product improvement for product portfolio as well new product innovation and new product development

* Responsible for leading and communicating the strategic direction for assigned product family & developing the corresponding business plans

* Conduct market research to development a commercial business plan on new product development

* Manage the Product Portfolio Roadmap and align product and functional groups to maximize profitability and growth

* Stay abreast of industry and market trends and understand customer needs

* Build and maintain key relationships with the OEM level with all functional departments, including executive level - Director/VP

* Grow and develop engineering staff

* Ensure engineering staff and strategies are aligned with tooling, purchasing, program management and other business groups

* Play a key role in the management team as a leader in the business with a high level of visibility

* Responsible to develop and executive and short and long-term product development plan and strategy

* Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Program Management department to ensure objectives are met

* Embracing a "voice of customer" mentality and driving that thought processes throughout the engineering organization

* Support quality, environmental and safety systems and programs

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Chemistry

* MBA preferred, but not required

* Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience with R&D and product development

* 5 years of engineering leadership experience leading an engineering organization

* Must have experience technical complex components, or subsystems

* Experience with resins, injection molding, or complex mechanical systems is required

* Experience in automotive, aerospace, appliances, or related is preferred

* Strong project management skills running complex projects

* Experience working with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) highly preferred

* Track record of successfully driving an engineering team in innovation

* Experience developing product roadmaps and strategies

* Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with competing and changing priorities

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, logical thinker driving process driving engineering

* Experience with product and process regulatory, risk, and liability

* Strong communication skills verbal and written with open and direct communication style

* Strong leadership skills managing and integrating teams

Our client for the Director of Engineering and Quality opportunity is a manufacturer and supplier of high performance complex components servicing customers including but not limited to automotive, aerospace, military, lighting, heavy industrial, white goods, and more. This private equity backed company is looking to double through organic growth and through acquisition, and the Director of Engineering will be offered equity stake in the company. This position is located in the Cleveland/Akron, OH area and relocation is required.

The Director of Engineering and Quality will be a part of the executive management team and will report directly to the CEO. The Director of Engineering and Quality will be responsible for leading all aspects of the R&D, engineering, and quality organization with a focus on new product development and innovation, coaching and executive leadership to the product engineering department, and ensuring products are designed and manufactured according to customer expectations. This person will have P&L responsibility and work heavily with sales, operations, and other cross functional groups.

Base salary $$150,000 - $175,000 depending on experience, bonus 25%, Equity, full benefits, 401K, vacation, holidays, etc.
