This is a contract position; however it is not uncommon for assignments to transition into permanent positions with our client companies. Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer---------- ---- Job Responsibilities ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Your specific duties as a Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer will include:--------------------

  • As a Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer (DRE), the individual is responsible for leading product development, program management, and integration activities for a specific component of the fuel system. This also includes coaching/leading a fuel system supplier through development/component changes utilizing engineering tools and processes (engineering change management) to successfully productionize the components and resolve potential issues. The DRE is responsible for achieving program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management.
  • The individual is expected to operate with a high level of independence and is typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering/coordinating programs, and counseling/advising management. The individual will receive general direction from supervisor but will exercise independent judgment.
  • Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Performs multiple tasks that require skills in time management. Leads and likely directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Designs and releases fuel system component solutions for vehicle programs
  • Manages post-launch issues tied to fuel system solutions
  • Responsible for development and refinement of the solution imperatives (piece cost, tooling, mass, quality, performance, etc.) of the designs. Reports out to leadership as required.
  • Supports/leads PDT (Product Development Team) for fuel system components. Collaborates with Product Development Team (PDT) stakeholders to successfully design and validate the components and systems for production.
  • Collaborates daily with other Chassis Engineers as well as other key areas of the organization (Designer, CAE, Validation, Purchasing, Cost Estimating, Performance Integration, Manufacturing, Service Engineering, Safety Engineering, including other commodities such as Body, Powertrain, Electrical, etc.) to creatively and jointly execute the overall optimal solution for the vehicle.
  • Responsible for ensuring complete validation, including establishment of a component validation plan
  • Works with the Designer/Supplier to ensure CAD data in Unigraphics and TeamCenter is updated regularly.
  • Maintains the execution of Subsystem and Supplier DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Collaborates with CAE engineers to assess system performance to requirements, and compares hardware performance
  • Collaborates with component technical experts (Technical Specialists) to ensure component and system strategy is correctly implemented as the new programs migrate into execution
  • Creates detailed technical Peer Reviews to ensure Best Practices and past lessons learned are implemented on new/existing programs. Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer Job Requirements As a Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Bachelor of Science with a STEM focus
    • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
    • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
    • Experience with engineering operations, processes, and best practices
    • 2+ years of post graduation engineering experience required; 5+ years of post graduation engineering experience strongly preferred
    • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
