Join us!Job Posting TitleElectrification Systems EngineerJob Description SummaryThe Electrification Systems Engineer --- Motor/Inverter Calibration will provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise within the Innovation team for inverter and motor calibration and testing support. The position will require knowledge of motor controls and inverter systems to test and calibrate new and existing systems. Additionally, with the right candidate, this position could also incorporate development of new motor control algorithms and embedded systems development.Job Description

  • Calibrate motor/inverter systems determining optimal performance and efficiency operating points
  • Debug and correct system performance issues based on calibration refinement
  • Create solutions to issues discovered while testing and calibrating
  • Compare system performance to model expectations
  • Develop motor control requirements for vehicle traction applications, analyze through simulation, and then define controls architecture and overall design
  • Understand vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics and controls subsystem
  • Develop advanced control strategies and software for tractions motors
  • Create software models to implement motor control algorithms
  • Enable and create controls within a model-based control software platform
  • Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution and verification of power electronics and controls products
  • Document and share best-practicesRequired Skills and Education
    • BS Electrical Engineering required
    • Motor calibration experience with both induction and permanent magnet motors
    • Experience and understanding of dynamometer systems for traction drives
    • Software design experience preferred
    • Electric motor control theory and methods knowledge and experience preferred
    • Knowledge of embedded control software and software development
    • Experience in specifying, mechanizing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls
    • Minimum 5 years experience required in some combination of the following areas:
      • Motor/Inverter calibration
      • Automotive electronics
      • Power Electronics for traction drives
      • Modeling, simulating, and testing of inverter drives
      • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills (Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills
      • Works under limited supervision
