Job Description:

Talascend is currently seeking a Nuclear Maintenance Manager for an opportunity located in Newport, MI.

Job Summary:

Manages direction of all maintenance activities, including maintaining optimum plant availability and safe operation of the station.

Ensures all work performed is in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements, operating license, and the Nuclear Quality Assurance Plan.

Has oversight for one or more Superintendents and/or Supervisors.

Provides management and supervision to a largely diverse organization of represented and non-represented employees.

Key Accountabilities:

Manages all aspects of nuclear plant maintenance activities with Superintendents and Supervisors and ensures efficient, safe and reliable plant operation as required under the operating license

Manages costs within approved budget and continuously strives for additional effectiveness and new methods to control costs and reduce budget on an annual basis

Promotes and strictly enforces procedure adherence and safety requirements

Maintains accredited training programs in compliance with the National Academy of Nuclear Training guidelines and ensures workforce is properly trained as required

Participates actively in the Work Management Process to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, timely, and effectively

Develops programs and practices that instill the highest standards of performance in employees

Provides ownership in the Corrective Action Program and Corrective and Elective Maintenance Backlog, optimizing work processes and resource allocation

Administers the functions of the Union Agreement and enforces Corporate and Fermi policies for the Maintenance section, including any disciplinary actions

Continuously strives for "Best in Class" performance, including promoting continuous improvement and best practices based on benchmarking of industry standards

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

This is a multi-track base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following three options:

Bachelor's degree and seven years of nuclear power plant or applicable industrial experience, inclusive of three years nuclear power plant experience; OR,

Associate's degree and nine years of responsible nuclear power plant or applicable industrial experience, inclusive of three years nuclear power plant experience; OR

High school diploma and eleven years of responsible nuclear power plant or applicable industrial experience, inclusive of three years nuclear power plant experience

Five years of supervisory experience or related experience leading and managing others


Bachelor's degree in a recognized engineering or scientific field generally associated with power production

Currently holds or previously held a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or SRO certification

Other Requirements:

Business acumen, communication, cost consciousness, decision making, delegation, diversity, ethics, interpersonal skills, leadership ability, managing performance, people development, people management, and visionary leadership

Possesses familiarity with non-destructive testing, craft knowledge, and an understanding of electrical, pressure vessel, and piping codes
