FLSA Status: Exempt

The Purchasing Agent at Test Products will be tasked with ensuring continuity of material flow on assigned commodities; researching and identifying new sources globally that adhere to our high quality, reliability, and delivery standards; maintaining relationships with suppliers and actively participating in cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, the Purchasing Agent is expected to dedicate the time required to meet the company's strategic plan.

Responsibilities:
--- Develop profitable purchasing strategies
--- Assess supplier profiles and analyze offers
--- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
--- Select the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency
--- Process payments and ensure delivery for materials
--- Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relations
--- Review material to ensure quality, manage inventory and keep updated records
--- Audit and maintain a roster of superior vendors in the steel industry
--- Complete day-to-day needs of the plant and office
--- Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

--- Previous experience in supplier relations and management, as well as contract negotiation
--- An understanding of the commodities market for price trends and material availability
--- Experience with global compliance a plus
--- An understanding of MRP systems
--- Strong verbal/written communication skills, along with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
--- The desire to interact with all levels of an organization, gaining exposure to multiple aspects of the business.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
--- Bachelor's Degree
--- 4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment

--- The performance of this position may require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
